对不起,各位妈妈,就是没时间啊。
我们的RDI Consultant也是Speaker,我很认同和欣赏她的以下Words。希望对大家有启发
1. often times with a child with ASD, the focus of intervention and support are based more on skill building with little emphasis on making sure the foundations, the functional understandings of how we connect as humans, are strongly in place.
2. the child with ASD from the onset, will have a foundation with holes in it because that is the nature of the disorder by focusing on the skills rather than the function, our child with ASD has few experiences of referencing. There became gaping holes in the foundation. Not only is the basic foundation missing because we have skipped to the “top” of the building, for example, to abilities such as language development without pre-verbal skills we have missed years of practice strengthening the foundation.
3. we often focus on making sure our children with ASD “learn” things but we forget that without the social context, the social understanding, their knowledge will have little true use for them. They will lack the strong foundations to develop higher level thinking that includes flexible thinking, creative problem solving, abstract thinking, as well as true empathy and caring for others
4. know that we can strengthen the areas of weaknesses for our children with ASD if we just remember to “slow down”: it takes a lot of experiences of attending and referencing to lead to higher levels of abilities like engaging cooperatively, making real friendships, and understanding all the subtleties of the social- emotional world.
5. This is truly a “marathon” and not a “sprint”: it is within the day-to-day moments, little by little, that we can make these necessary brain changes. By keeping the “big” picture in mind, holding onto how we learn as humans, we can remediate the core deficits of Autism and help our children be more competent as they grow.
