Wen’s Progress
·The biggest improvement is in speech. Has more babbling, and able to say around 50 words
·Improvement in immitation (OK, depending on his interest)
·Improvement in joint attention (OK, depending on his interest and mood)
Wen’s challenges
·Attention span is short (in sessions always saying “all done”)
·Limited interests and little pretend play
·Seldom follow orders (directions)
·No basic self-help skills
·Unable to sit beside the table to finish a meal
·Many sensory problems, such as frightened by certain sounds, not like touching food, not like mouth being touched, puzzled by wind blowing trees…..
Expectation from the parents
We would like to see improvement on Wen in Joint attention, Knowledge, Behavior, Speech and Communication Skills. To be more specifically, we wish Wen can:
·Speak, speak, speak!!! Communicate with people through language, signs
·Has more interests and able to focus on those activities
·Response to his name and Follow directions
·Has basic self-help skills, such as self-feeding
·Sit still beside the table to do some table work
·Desensitize many sensory inputs
Questions from the parents
·Parent support (Joyce)
·Can we get more time from Floortime?
·Playgroup: Can Floortime assign us a tutor there?
·Basic self-help skills, such as self-feeding (sensory issue) or dressing (Immitation: put clothes on doll?)
·How to deal with Wen’s avoidance in the session? (always says “all done” and not focuses on activities)
·How to generalize Wen’s skills? We ask Wen to do the things that ABA has taught him, but many times he won’t do that. ---- This way, How to evaluate his progress?
·How to desensitize Wen’s sensory problems? (O.T)
. Floortime: How to expand Wen's interests and make him more motivated in the
play?
