re:The important book...

The important book

by Brown, Margaret Wise

(1)
the important thing about a spoon is
that you eat with it.

it's like a little shovel,
you hold it in your hand,
you can put it in your mouth,
it isn't flat,
it's hollow,
and it spoons things up.

but the important thing about a spoon is
that you eat with it.

(2)
the important thing about rain is
that it is wet.

it falls out of the sky,
and it sounds like rain,
and makes things shiny,
and it does not taste like anything,
and is the color of air.

but the important thing about rain
is that it is wet.

...

(8)
the important thing about you is
that you are you.

it is true that you were a baby,
and you grew,
and now you are a child,
and you will grow,
into a man,
or into a woman.

but the important thing about you
is that

you
are
you

The important thing about        is that she is    . She is           and she is   , and   , and she          . But the important thing about     is that she is   .

The important thing about 忘了我是谁   is that she is 年青 . She is 美丽 and she is 聪明 , and 会说相声 , and she 喜欢帮人 . But the important thing about 忘了我是谁 is that she is 年青 .

the important thing about a daisy is
that it is white.
it is yellow in the middle
it has long white petals,
and bees sit on it,
it has a ticklish smell,
it grows in green fields,
and there are always
lots of daisies.

but the important thing about a daisy is that
it is white.

And now, in order and with linkety goodness intact, I bring to you the results of the Top 100 Picture Book Poll of 2009.  Please note two changes.  First, the inclusion of Lost and Found at #60, where it belongs.  Second, the fact that King Bidgood was originally incorrectly tallied and has moved up a notch or two on ye olde list.  Otherwise, each link should go to the blog post where it was featured (even if the numbers don't always perfectly correspond).  At the end of the post is the bibliography of sources I used in the course of this poll's posting.  Enjoy!

14 Curiouse George (92
