CHILD ASSESSMENT AUTISM DIAGNOSTIC OBSERVATION SCALE ADOS
yewkim presented as an active boy and was accompanied by his parents for the assessment评估中yew kim在父母的陪伴下看起来积极且活泼,the autism diagnostic observation schedule was administered .this is a standardised clinical observation of communication and social behaviour that allow the psychologist to see the child in different communicative situations.yew kim parents were present during the ados assessment.in terms of free play,yew kim just manipulated the toys without meaning.he put blocks in tworows.he occasionally referred to his father or mother by saying in mandarin mamaruanchu he played with the pop-up toy for a while.he went over the bed in the room and said open as the bed was wrapped up with plastic.he was rather active at thes time but was able to contain himself in the room. when yew kim requested for more blocks in an activity,he said i want after prompts from other adults.he touched to point to the empty slot on the cardboard.he attempted to grab the blocks without coordinated eye contact.most of the time yewkim ignored others when he was called by name ,when his parent called him ,he walked towards his mother but without coordinated eye contact.when he was give some toys for make-believe play (toy family set) yewkim started by arranging the toy figures on the furniture.he commented as he played with the toy figures open door mama without making appropriate eye contact.he did not try to make the toy figures talk to each other.his make-beleve play seemed to be limited in repertoire.during the joint interactive play with the examiner ,he was not able to follow the instructions and the comments that the examiner made ,he had difficulties with reciprocal play with the examiner.yewkim had difficulties in having or sustaining conversation with the examiner.he could not answer the examiner's questions and had difficulty commenting on what he was experiencing.in response to joint attention, he could not follow the examiner's eye gaze in looking at some distant objects but could follow when the examiner pointed to the distant object .yewkim could not describe a routine activity like brushing his teeth nor was he able to use gestures to pretend that he was brushing his teeth .when yewkim was given a picture,he gave limited descriptions.he spelt out the letters on the picture crure and said birthday cake he talked to himself and had delayed echolalia.he also recited phrases he had heard before in mandarin .when given a picture book .yewkim went off on his own without responding to any questions from the examiner.he could not descrbe the pictures of the story. in pretend play with a doll's birthday party .yewkim was not able to join in the script of a doll's birthday party even with prompts or instructions.he was fidgety and squirmy and only manipulated with the cup and knife .he soon ran away without playing with any adult .during the bubble play .yewkim was interested in playing with the bubbles.he said father i miss you when requesting the bubbles.his parents related that when yewkim wanted something he would usually use this phrase in verbatim.he also attempted to grab the bubble and pull the examiner's hand towards the bubble bottle.overall ,on the basis of this observation,yewkim does meet the cut off criteria in the ados in the areas of communication and social interaction.he fell within the range of autism for communication and social behaviours,with no indication of restricted and repetitive behaviour. |
