The various labels can be confusing as is the differences between capsules
and oils. Kirkman's capsules are not cod-liver oil per se, but are vitamin
A/D capsules, that is to say, the vitamins have been concentrated from CLO,
but the product is not CLO. Additionally, the capsule, in my experience
prevents the effectiveness of the vitamin A. We don't want Kirkman's vitamin
A capsules, but we want the oil. If we use Kirkman Brand CLO, it has more
vitamin A in it, so we have to limit the amount used, and thus limit the
amount of EPA/DHA, which is minimal (250 mg) to begin with. Nordic Naturals
best meet the needs of the children. Yes, it has less vitamin D in it, and if
your child is not allowed in the sun, then you need an additional vitamin D
only supplement. Best, allow your child in the sun every day. Use Nordic
Natural and put the child in the sun. Don't worry about sun-screen, it is
probably toxic to a PST child anyway.

The medical profession has been taught that vitamin A will kill you :-(, so
they recommend 1/3 tsp or some small amount that did help, but is not what
the child needs. Especially if he has "Chicken-skin" bumps on shoulders,
arms, thighs, and calves. Kirkman recommends what the doctors are
recommending, but that is not enough. Anything under 10,000 IU is safe for a
child 4 years old or more in my humble opinion. Younger ones may reduce that
a bit, but vitamin A can be taken in very high amounts for as much as 3
months with only good reported (no more infections). If your child has
measles in the gut, he probably needs more than 10,000 IU.
