我老婆怀孕一个多月时也得了近两周的病毒性感冒，现在我觉得除了基因外这可能是很重要的一个原因。加州大学一个教授做研究，表明母亲怀孕期间患感冒是造成自闭症的一个可能原因。我和他通过EMAIL,他曾回复如下：

Yes, we are working on an animal model based on the maternal infection risk factor. I will send a lay article on this tomorrow. The epidemiology on this for autism is not as clear as it is for schizophrenia, however.

I am currently writing several grant applications to try to raise money to test drugs on these animals to try and normalize their autistic-like behaviors.
You are fortunate to get the diagnosis very early, as it appears that intensive behavioral therapy (every day for some hours) can do wonders for the kids. My nephew's autistic symptoms responded incredibly well to this type of therapy.

我相信普遍而言，造成自闭症的主要是先天基因遗传及变异，后天环境（包括怀孕期间母亲体内环境）是触发因素，感冒、疫苗、父母体质、生活环境都属于比较重要的后台因素。
