任何一段演讲都是夸大，乃至滥情的。而真正好的演讲，在我看来，正是将人们本已经稀缺同时却冗余于无谓中的情感从新整合催发，乃至爆发出巨大的震动，曾经澎湃却早已落寞的心再一次被煽动，即使这样的煽动是别有目的。
作为一个非美国人，我如此认真的翻译了这篇文章，我自己都觉得有狗拿耗子的嫌疑。一边翻一我一边思索，我们国家四方大脸，谈吐不凡的中央领导人们，什么时候才能如此平易近人说一些其实无关痛痒，但又振奋人心的话呢？
这篇演讲中，有很多很值得注意的点，比如说，gay and straight，比如说对于没有投给奥巴马的选民，他在那一段说，i will be your president too。这是胜利者的宣言，而这个宣言要表现得不仅是一个胜利的宽宏和饱含深情，也还有他的地位以及无可限量的权利。这都是现实，都是这篇演讲中所传达出来的信息。奥巴马的上台已经带来了足够大的转变，但也不一定会改变美国强硬的态度。强者的改变通常是在方式，而非目的。
不过这位总统实在是太会说了，举了一个106岁老大娘的例子，就把美国的历史，白人黑人，男人女人，种种热点问题都旁敲侧击的指明了奋斗的方向。果真，龙蛇混杂的家庭背景造就了一个八面玲珑的牛奶巧克力政府。
这篇演讲前半部分不用看了，主要是一些感谢cctv，mtv，美特斯邦威之类的套话，后半部分其实也不是十分的有实质性的内容，就如同所有的胜利感言一样。如果你正和我一样，迷茫，无助，看见蔫了的咸菜都能想起自己漂泊不定的未来甚至哭上一鼻子的话，美国精神里那种盲目向前，也许此时正是一剂良药。

If there is anyone out there who still doubts that America is a place where all things are possible; who still wonders if the dream of our founders is a live in our time; who still questions the power of our democracy, tonight is your answer.
如果，还有人质疑美国到底是不是一个一切皆有可能的国度；我们国父那一带的梦想现在是否仍然鲜活；民主的力量是否依然健在，今晚的结果就是最好的答案。
It’s the answer told by lines that stretched around schools and churches in numbers this nation has never seen; by people who waited three hours and four hours, many for the very first time in their lives, because they believed that this time must be different; that their voice could be that difference.

It’s the answer spoken by young and old, rich and poor, Democrat and Republican, black, white, Latino, Asian, Native American, gay, straight, disabled and not disabled – Americans who sent a message to the world that we have never been a collection of Red States and Blue States: we are, and always will be, the United States of America.

I just received a very gracious call from Senator McCain. He fought long and hard in this campaign, and he’s fought even longer and harder for the country he loves. He has endured sacrifices for America that most of us cannot begin to imagine, and we are better off for the service rendered by this brave and selfless leader. I congratulate him and Governor Palin for all they have achieved, and I look forward to working with them to renew this nation’s promise in the months ahead.

I was never the likeliest candidate for this office. We didn’t start with much money or many endorsements. Our campaign was not hatched in the halls of Washington – it began in the backyards of Des Moines and the living rooms of Concord and the front porches of Charleston.

This is your victory.

For even as we celebrate tonight, we know the challenges that tomorrow will bring are the greatest of our lifetime – two wars, a planet in peril, the worst financial crisis in a century. Even as we stand here tonight, we know there are brave Americans waking up in the deserts of Iraq and the mountains of Afghanistan to risk their lives for us. There are mothers and fathers who will lie awake after their children fall asleep and wonder how they’ll make the mortgage, or pay their doctor’s bills, or save enough for college. There is new energy to harness and new jobs to be created; new schools to build and threats to meet and alliances to repair.

And above all, I will ask you join in the work of remaking this nation the only way it’s been done in America for two-hundred and twenty-one years – block by block, brick by brick, calloused hand by calloused hand.

What began twenty-one months ago in the depths of winter must not end on this autumn night. This victory alone is not the change we seek – it is only the chance for us to make that change. And that cannot happen if we go back to the way things were. It cannot happen without you.

Let us remember that it was a man from this state who first carried the banner of the Republican Party to the White House – a party founded on the values of self-reliance, individual liberty, and national unity. Those are values we all share, and while the Democratic Party has won a great victory tonight, we do so with a measure of humility and determination to heal the divides that have held back our progress. As Lincoln said to a nation far more divided than ours, “We are not enemies, but friends…though passion may have strained it must not break our bonds of affection.” And to those Americans whose supportI have yet to earn – I may not have won your vote, but I hear your voices,I need your help, and I will be your President too.

And to all those who have wondered if America’s beacon still burns as bright – tonight we proved once more that the true strength of our nation comes not from the might of our arms or the scale of our wealth, but from the enduring power of our ideals: democracy, liberty, opportunity, and unyielding hope.

She’s a lot like the millions of others who stood in line to make their voice heard in this election except for one thing – Ann Nixon Cooper is 106 years old.
