GRASP Employment Announcement: After School Facilitator
At GRASP we are seeking a motivated individual to serve as After School Facilitator for our new after school program in New York City that will begin in the Fall.
The goal of this program is to create a successful, peer-run, after-school pilot support program in New York City serving 20 high school students diagnosed along the autism spectrum (specifically Asperger's Syndrome), as well as their families. The position will run until mid- to-late June. Following school years may be available subject to project funding.
The After School Facilitator will be responsible for running the following components of the program:
* Running weekly 90-minute support meetings for two sets of 10 kids (total time = 180 min)
* Running weekly 60 minute group meetings with all the parents
* Maintaining and moderating an online support/chat group for all members of the particular network
* Acting as mediator and/or advocate for members experiencing difficulties in school, or at home
Candidates for After School Facilitator should have the following qualifications:
* Minimum of a Bachelors Degree
* Have a diagnosis on the autism spectrum
* Be self-motivated and ready to take a leadership role
* Be comfortable working with both teens and parents
